Alabama Buttermilk

Making of a Humble Hero

I’ve waited my whole life to tell you this story. Now it’s your turn to hear it.

From the red dirt roads of Alabama to the back pews of country churches… from my mama’s kitchen to the pain I never talked about—this book has been a long time coming.

My name is Alvin Alabama Lovett, and Alabama Buttermilk ain’t just a title—it’s my truth, my roots, and my revival call to anyone who knows what it means to grow up with a full heart and an empty plate.

This story is for the ones who’ve been through some things, who’ve laughed hard, lost deep, and still found a way to rise.

I didn’t write this book for fame. I wrote it because some things gotta be said. Because our stories matter. Because the South has a sound—and it’s time the world heard mine.

So welcome. Pull up a seat on this digital porch of mine.

The buttermilk is fresh. The truth is strong. And the wait… is over.

Step into the story that’s changing lives one page at a time.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that the world has lost a towering voice for justice and equality. Today, Rev. Jesse Jackson passed away at the age of 84 — a man whose life was a testament to courage, conviction, and relentless love for humanity.

I count myself truly privileged to have walked alongside Rev. Jackson during defining moments of our nation’s journey — especially during my time as NBC Television Talk Show Host of Visions with Alvin Lovett on WALA-TV 10 in Mobile, Alabama. We shared conversations that challenged, inspired, and uplifted communities across this region and beyond.

Together, we helped champion the movement that made Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday a national holiday — a legacy that reminds us every year that freedom, dignity, and equality are work we continue day by day.

Rev. Jackson wasn’t just a leader — he was a source of hope for millions. His voice, his spirit, and his commitment to justice changed lives and changed history. I am honored that our paths crossed, and that I was able to stand with him in the struggle for a more just America.

As we reflect on his remarkable life, I invite you to read more about the journey, the people, and the place that shaped me — Alabama Buttermilk.

Always keep dreaming.

Alabama Lovett is a life force to be reckoned with! He is the PERFECT example of someone always reaching for all that life has to offer as he offers himself freely to be directed by the Will of God!! - Martha Lacroix
